The sound design for Lynn Nottage’s Sweat had some internal sound effects but was primarily centered around transitional sound that was cued with projections. These transitions followed the suggested period collages in the script and helped thread the transitions seamlessly and lead the audience through time and emotion. Each transition was punctuated with effects at the beginning and the music would fade into the ambient background of the jukebox speakers as lights came up on the next scene.
